Houston travels to Rice after winning seven events at outdoor home opener
HOUSTON – The Houston Track and Field team will stay in Houston for a second consecutive week as it travels to Rice's Victor Lopez Classic Friday-Saturday after a successful first weekend to the outdoor season. The Victor Lopez Classic begins on Thursday with high school events only.

STARTING LINE NOTES
- Junior Shaun Maswanganyi was named Co-Track Athlete of the Week after running the nation's fastest time in the 100-meter dash at the Kirk Baptiste Spring Break Invitational.
- Senior Cecilia Tamayo-Garza set the meet record in the 100-meter dash and won both the 100 and 200-meter dash at the Kirk Baptiste Spring Break Invitational.
- Maswanganyi ran the nation's fastest time in the 100 at 10.13 – finishing second overall by photo finish to a professional runner.
- Houston won seven total events at the Kirk Baptiste Spring Break Invitational.
- Houston won both the women's long jump and women's triple jump at the Kirk Baptiste Spring Break Invitational with Alexis Tilford-Rutherford and Destiny Lawrence winning the long jump and triple jump, respectively.
- Eleni Kaiser won her first collegiate event, winning the 1,500 meters.
- Lloyd Frilot won the 400-meter dash in a personal record 48.94 seconds from the first heat of the event.
- Houston did not compete in the Texas Southern Relays.
