SERIES HISTORY. The Aggies return to Schroeder Park for the third time in four years. The Cougars currently hold a 1-1 record in that time span. Last season, Houston made the trip to College Station and came away with a decisive 8-2 win. In the win, Zach Arnold and Alex Lopez both went 3-5 with two runs apiece. Â
LAST TIME OUT. In the final game of the Oklahoma series, the Cougars kept the game close, scoring four runs in the bottom of the eighth to make it a one-run game. Ultimately, the Cougars lost 7-6.
COLLEGE WORLD SERIES. This will be the second of two teams that the Cougars will face in five days that participated in the 2022 College World Series. This past weekend Houston faced the Sooners who were the runner-up while Texas A&M also made an appearance.
GERMANY IN THE STATES. Freshman Paul Schmitz earned his first start of the 2023 season on Saturday night in front of his parents who made the trip from Schmitz hometown of Bonn, Germany.
RANKED OPPONENTS. This will mark the first game were the Cougars have faced a ranked opponent this season. The Aggies are ranked No. 15 in the D1Baseball poll and No. 11 in the Baseball America poll.
FINDING THE RIGHT ONE. The Cougars have had 13 different starting lineups since the beginning of the season, relying on two of them twice. However, captains Anthony Tulimero and Ian McMillan have been a part of the lineup in every single game. Other familiar starters including Zach Arnold, Justin Murray, Brandon Burckel and Alex Lopez.
POWER 5 OPPONENTS. This will be the third time a Power 5 opponent will make a trip to Houston. The Cougars first hosted Cal for Opening Weekend before welcoming Oklahoma for the past weekend series. Houston also played P5 team Utah in the Kleberg Classic ultimately beating the Utes 13-5.
