Houston Athletics announces pricing details ahead of seven-game home schedule
Dear Cougar Football Season-Ticket Holder:
This is an exciting and historic time to be a part of the University of Houston family, as we formally join the Big 12 Conference on July 1st. Our move to a Power Five conference is the product of decades of hard work, ingenuity and unwavering support by so many, and the loyalty and commitment our university, department and programs have received from you over many years.
As we transition to the Big 12, we recognize that we must invest further in all of our programs to provide championship-level support for our teams while delivering our fans an energetic game-day environment. For example, 12 of the "new" 14 Big 12 teams participated in bowl games this past season, including a national championship game appearance by a member school. Our competition is increasing and so is the difficulty of our schedules across all sports.
Among the new Big 12 schools, Houston's 2022 football season-ticket pricing averages ranked in the bottom third of the league and — in select seating locations — ranked dead last. Candidly, this is not a sustainable model for UH's long-term success, nor is it reflective of the value and excitement fans will look forward to when they attend games at TDECU Stadium this Fall. We have been able to maintain little to no price increases over the last couple of years.

With season-ticket sales for football beginning Monday, February 20th, we want you to know that we are implementing new season ticket pricing plans that more consistently align with our new peers. For the 2023 season, Houston Football season tickets will increase, on average, by 14%, based on a historical six-game home schedule. The 2023 season will feature seven home games including a matchup against the University of Texas at TDECU Stadium on October 21st. Based on a seven-game home schedule, season ticket holders can expect to see a net 30% increase on average. As an incentive for ticket holders to commit early, those who renew or purchase tickets prior to April 30th will receive a discounted rate. Those renewing/purchasing after the April 30th deadline should expect to see a pricing uptick beyond our initial 2023 price increases.
There is no better time to be a Houston Cougar. Your support directly advances our Houston Rise campaign priorities, providing championship support for our exceptional student-athletes and coaches. In addition, you enhance your Cougar Pride membership status by purchasing season-tickets, unlocking the best seating locations at TDECU Stadium.
We hope you'll join us this fall for the return of prominent and historical regional rivalries as well as new matchups against exciting nationally recognized programs. We very much need and appreciate your continued support as we rise to a new era of excellence for Houston Athletics.
