Houston extends win streak to seven with Saturday win
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Tennis program quickly picked up the first four points en route to a 6-1 victory against ULM Saturday afternoon at the Barbara Wallace Winston Tennis Facility.
For a seventh straight match, the Cougars (8-3) started the day off taking the doubles point, along with five singles wins. ULM (2-9) earned its lone point of the day in singles action.

Elena Trencheva and Sophie Schouten teamed up to pick up the first doubles victory of the day against Alessandra Anghel/Angela del Campo, 6-1. Azul Pedemonti and Sonya Kovalenko sealed the doubles point for the Cougars after defeating Mackenzie King/Alice Klinteby, 6-2.

In singles action, Pedemonti earned the Cougars their second point of the day by dominating on court three with a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Klinteby.

On court two, Laura Slisane gave Houston a 3-0 lead with a 6-2, 6-2, victory over Balaba. Freshman Gabriela Cortes immediately followed with a dominating 6-1, 6-1 win on court five against Giovana Pereira.

Kovalenko earned her second singles victory of the season following a win against Mariam Hatem with set scores of 6-4, 6-3.

Maria Dzemeshkevich picked up the sixth and final win for the Cougars on court one toppling Anghel, 7-6 (8-6), 6-4.

ULM's lone point of the match came on court four in a three-set victory for Del Campo against Blanca Cortijo Parreno, 6-0, 3-6, 10-5.

The Cougars and the Warhawks now split the all-time series, 2-2.

UP NEXT
Houston will travel to New Orleans, La., to face Tulane, 2 p.m., Friday and will remain in New Orleans to face Memphis at noon, Saturday, March 4. The Cougars will then close their weekend slate against Southeastern Louisiana, 10 a.m., Sunday, March 5 in Hammond, La.

The Cougars will return to the friendly confines of the Barbara Wallace Winston Tennis Facility to host Lamar on Monday, March 13 at 2 p.m. and A&M- Corpus Christi on Saturday, March 18 at 11 a.m.
