Houston welcomes Baylor, Iowa State, Kansas State and Utah to TDECU Stadium in 2024
HOUSTON – The Big 12 Conference announced its 16-team, four-year scheduling matrix for the 2024-27 seasons with University of Houston Football continuing regional matchups against longtime rivals coupled with a host of matchups against the conference's newest members, the league office announced Wednesday.
2024
Home: Baylor, Iowa State, Kansas State, Utah
Away: Arizona, BYU, Cincinnati, Kansas, TCU
2025
Home: Arizona, Colorado, TCU, Texas Tech, West Virginia
Away: Arizona State, Baylor, Oklahoma State, UCF
2026
Home: Baylor, Cincinnati, Oklahoma State, UCF
Away: Colorado, Kansas State, Texas Tech, Utah, West Virginia
2027
Home: Arizona State, BYU, Colorado, Kansas, Texas Tech
Away: Arizona, Cincinnati, Iowa State, TCU
The Cougars will face Baylor each season between 2024-26 including the Bears' first visit to TDECU Stadium in 2024. Houston will also match up against TCU three times between 2024-27 beginning with a visit to Fort Worth next season. After a one-season pause, Houston and Texas Tech resume their in-state showdown when the Red Raiders head to TDECU Stadium in 2025.
Houston will get its first look at 2024 league newcomers Arizona and Utah during each program's first season in the league when the Cougars visit the Wildcats and host the Utes. Houston faces Colorado three times between 2025-27 beginning in 2025 when the Buffaloes head to TDECU Stadium.
According to the Big 12, the scheduling model was developed with a priority on geography, historic matchups and rivalries as well as competitive balance. During the four years, all teams will play one another at least once home and away. Some matchups will occur over three seasons while others take place in all four. Matchups in 2024 that were also played in 2023 will not repeat at the same site.
The Conference looked to maintain the current 5/4, 4/5 home/away rotation for all 16 members to minimize non-conference scheduling disruptions. Other important factors were balancing annual travel by distance and time zones as well as maintaining connectivity to rivalries without compromising a balanced rotation for all teams.
Location and dates will be announced as soon as available.
