Graduate Claire Meyer and the top core of graduate Brandon Seagreaves, senior Branch Cox and sophomore Miles Cox look to lead the way for their respective teams.
Meyer, leading the Cougars in each meet, has had two top-three finishes including a first-place time at the Lamar Early Bird Opener. She will lean on the rest of the women's team to make a run at the conference hardware.
Seniors Zosia Bulhak and Kelly-Ann Beckford have been the one-two punch behind Meyer in each of the meets they competed at. Bulhak picked up a fourth-place finish and a time of 14:02.77 at the Lamar Early Bird Opener and Beckford grabbed 25th crossing the line at 18:34.80 in the 5k race at the Texas A&M Invitational. Both seniors set new personal best times this season and look to do the same in the upcoming 6k race.
On the men's side, there is no clear-cut top runner. Seagreaves, and the Cox brothers have each the top finisher for the Cougars in a meet this year while setting a personal best time.
Graduate Brycen Pitre and freshmen Alan Bonner, Aaron Crittenden and Patrick Flowers look to make another leap to improve their times again in the 8k race as they did between the Texas A&M Invitational and Arturo Barrios Invitational.
Friday will mark the first Big 12 Conference Championships for any sport in school history.
