Tennis Takes on ITA Texas Regionals

WACO, Texas – The University of Houston tennis team heads to Waco for the ITA Texas Regionals beginning on Thursday at the Hurd Tennis Center on the campus of Baylor.

All eight student-athletes will compete in doubles. Elena Trencheva, Sophie Schouten, Nina Skoric, Gabriela Cortes and Sonya Kovalenko will also play singles.

The Cougars wrapped a successful Houston Invite with tournament highs in singles (18) and doubles (12) wins over the course of the three days.

Gabriela Cortes secured an undefeated weekend, going a combined 6-0, sweeping all of her matches. Sonya Kovalenko and Sophie Schouten dropped only one match on the weekend with 5-1 records each.
