Cougars finish day three with six singles wins
HOUSTON, Texas – The University of Houston tennis team completed day three of the Houston Invite, earning six singles victories on Sunday at the Barbara Wallace Winston Tennis Facility.Â
Blanca Cortijo Parreno knocked off Air Force's Andrea Le, 6-2, 6-1. Elena Trencheva captured the win against Air Force's Amy Park, 6-1, 6-3, while Maria Dzemeshkevich made quick work on Air Force's Carissa Holguin, 6-1, 6-1.Â
Gabriela Cortes secured an undefeated weekend with a win over Rice's Anushka Ashar, 6-3, 6-3. Sonya Kovalenko and Sophie Schouten also went undefeated as Kovalenko earned the win against Rice's Chie Kezuka, 6-2, 6-3, while Schouten defeated the Owls' Saara Orav in a three-set thriller, 6-2, 4-6, 10-3. Â

The Cougars head to Waco, Texas for the ITA Texas Regionals on Oct. 12-16, at the Hurd Tennis Center on the campus of Baylor University.
