Cougars are coming off a fourth-place finish in conference play in 2022
HOUSTON – The University of Houston softball program was voted to finish fourth in the American Athletic Conference in a poll of the league's coaches. The Cougars finished one point behind third-place South Florida.
Â
The Cougars, who nearly knocked off eventual champions UCF in The American Tournament semifinals, finished in fourth in league play last season with an 8-9-1 record against American opponents.Â
Â
Houston opens its 2023 schedule with a home tournament starting on Feb. 9. The Cougars play Virginia, South Dakota State, Lamar, Nebraska and Delaware in the season's opening weekend. The team remains at home for two more tourneys to close out February.Â
Â
The Cougars return three all-conference team members from last season in graduate Kati Ray Brown, graduate Kenna Wilkey and senior Paige Hulsey.Â
