Houston completes perfect weekend at home, Jackson leads Cougars with 26 kills
HOUSTON – The University of Houston volleyball team collected its third win of the weekend, and fifth in a row, defeating Oregon State in a five-set thriller Saturday night in Fertitta Center.
With the win, the Cougars (5-1) completed a perfect weekend in the 11th annual Fly Hyman Collegiate Cup thanks to 25-18, 25-19, 26-29, 23-25, 15-12 set scores and off the arm of senior Abbie Jackson's second double-double of the season, with 26 kills on a .312 clip with 17 digs.
Junior Kate Georgiades returned to her 20-dig total, the fifth match this year in the 20-plus dig range.

Off the bench, graduate Isabel Theut racked up 16 kills in support of Jackson on a blistering .306 attacking percentage.

Houston jumped out to a two-set lead after the first two sets, but Oregon State's adjustments made it difficult for the Cougars to score in vital moments of the third and fourth sets.

In the fifth set, the Cougars jumped out to a 5-0 lead, but the Beavers clawed back at 9-9. At 10-10, Houston scored a pair of points and held off Oregon State's attempt to force extra points. Jackson's 26th kill of the night sent Cougar fans home happy.
UP NEXT
Houston travels to Starkville, Miss., to compete in Mississippi State's Maroon & White Invite where it opens the tournament at 10 a.m. Friday against South Alabama and at 6 p.m., against Mississippi State. The Cougars will close out action at 11 a.m., Saturday against Kennesaw State.

Head coach David Rehr won his 600th collegiate match as a head coach with the thrilling win. He is 59-31 at the helm in Houston and 207-111 at the Division I level.
