
Houston Tennis Earns ITA All-Academic Team, Five Named Scholar Athletes

Cougars receive team honor for third straight season
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Tennis program earned Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic Team honors for the 2021-22 season for a third consecutive season, the organization announced recently.
For the first time since 2014, five Cougars – junior Sofia Chang, freshman Maria Dzemeshkevich, senior Sophie Gerits, sophomore Gabriela Giraldo and junior Manasi Reddy – were named ITA Scholar-Athletes. This marks the third recognition for Gerits and Reddy; and first for Chang, Dzemeshkevich and Giraldo.
To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, student-athletes must have a grade point average of at least 3.5 for the current academic year. For ITA All-Academic Team, teams must have a GPA of 3.2 or above for the year.
