Head Coach Ronald Hughey announces addition of transfers from Illinois, LSU
HOUSTON – Head Coach Ronald Hughey announced the addition of transfers De'Myla Brown and Logyn McNeil to the 2022-23 women's basketball roster.

De'Myla Brown
Guard – 5'7 – University of Illinois – North Little Rock, Arkansas
Brown comes to Houston after playing the 2021-22 season with the University of Illinois. The guard averaged 8.1 points per game with two rebounds and 1.4 assists while totaling 30 steals throughout the season. She played in 27 games for the Illini starting 12 and averaged 21 minutes per game.
"De'Myla is an outstanding combo guard with point guard attributes," Hughey said. "She is a three-level scorer who loves to get her teammates involved. She is quick, disciplined and fits our culture. We are extremely excited to have her join our family."
Before her time with Illinois, Brown was an NJCAA Division I first-team All-America 2020-21 at Chipola College. While there, the Arkansas native helped her team to a Final Four appearance in the 2021 NJCAA Division I Championship Tournament after capturing the FCSAA State/NJCAA District VIII Championship as tournament MVP.

Logyn McNeil
Forward – 6'3 – LSU – Rockwell, Texas
McNeil was one of the top prospects coming out of Texas in 2021 before signing with LSU. She was ranked the No. 18 forward in her class nationally by ESPNU coming out of high school. After tearing her ACL at the beginning of her freshman year with the Tigers, McNeil redshirted the 2021-22 season.
"Logyn is a lean and athletic post that can score in the paint or facing the basket from the perimeter," Hughey said. "She has the ability to score in traffic, rebounds and can outlet and run the floor in our transition game. She fits our culture and pressing mentality. We are extremely excited to have her join our family."
At Rockwall–Heath High School, she was named the Texas 10-6A Defensive MVP in 2021 on the All-District Team and as a junior, the forward averaged nine points, nine rebounds, five assists and three blocks per game. Following the season she earned first-team All-District 11-6A honors.
