Four Cougars Earn Second Team Honors

Brown, Hulsey, Schulte, Wilkey named to The American All-Conference Second Team
HOUSTON – Four different University of Houston softball student-athletes were named to the American Athletic Conference softball All-Conference Second Team on Wednesday.

Kati Ray Brown, Paige Hulsey, Becca Schulte and Kenna Wilkey all earned their first postseason conference honors as Cougars by being named to the Second Team.

KATI RAY BROWN – C – SR
Brown clubbed the fifth most home runs in conference play (5), driving in the 10th-most RBIs (12) and slugged a team-leading .588 over 18 games against The American opponents. Two of the senior's five home runs came in Houston's 13-11 win at Tulsa (date). The Sugar Land, Texas native posted four different multi-RBI games, including two different three-RBI games.

PAIGE HULSEY – OF – JR
Hulsey led thee Cougars in average in conference play (.350) over 17 games. Primarily playing in right field, the speedster swiped a school-record four bases in one game against Memphis (date) and stole the second-most bases in the conference (7). The Tomball, Texas native had a six-game conference hitting streak spanning the Wichita State and UCF series' (seven total games), as well as a five-game conference hitting streak over an earlier portion of play and had at least one hit in 12 of 17 conference games played. BECCA SCHULTE – INF – GR
Schulte led the team in RBI, tied for fifth-most in The American play (14) and tallied six extra-base hits, including three doubles and three home runs. The seventh-year infielder's best collegiate game came at Tulsa (date), driving in five RBI on four hits, including two different home runs. The second baseman drove in multiple RBI in three different games.

KENNA WILKEY – RHP – SR
Wilkey recorded two separate complete game solo shutouts in her 48.0 innings of work in The American. The right-handed pitcher posted a 3.65 ERA in 10 appearances, nine starts, and tallied four different complete games. Wilkey struck out 42 batters, the fourth-most in the conference, and her .255 average against was the sixth-best among The American pitchers.
