Cougars Face Ranked Longhorns

AUSTIN, Texas − The University of Houston softball team faces No. 14 Texas on Wednesday in a midweek game in Austin, Texas. The Longhorns are coming off a historic win, topping then-undefeated No. 1 Oklahoma, on Saturday.

FIRST PITCH

Freshman Baylea Myers hit her first-career home run against Wichita State April 15.
UH and UT have met every season since 2001 except in 2020, 2007 and 2002.
The Cougars are hitting .326 in the third inning of games. Houston's average is .280 or above when hitting in the first four innings of games.
For the first time since joining The American, the Cougars swept the weekly awards April 11. Bethany Busch was named Player of the Week and Kenna Wilkey was named Pitcher of the Week.
Houston is off to its best 12-game start to conference play since 2017.
Paige Hulsey tied a school record for stolen bases with a perfect 4-for-4 on stolen base attempts against Memphis on April 3.
Hannah Todd became the first pitcher to win all three games of a series in program history winning all three games against Memphis.
Houston had its nine-game home winning streak snapped by Wichita State.
Houston tied a game for the second time ever when it tied Tulsa 2-2 on March 27 (last in 2010).
Becca Schulte hit a home run in the final game of 2020, did not play in 2021, and hit a home run in her first at-bat of 2022. Thus, Schulte hit a home run in back-to-back games spanning 23 months.
Graduate student Becca Schulte is competing in her seventh season as a collegiate athlete. Schulte graduated high school in 2015. She is one of two known seventh-year softball players in the DI ranks.
Houston will face four Preseason Top 25 teams in 2022, including three teams in the Top 10 of D1Softball's preseason poll.
The Cougars play 10 teams that made a regional in 2021 and seven Power 5 opponents in 2022, facing those seven teams a total of 11 total times.

LAST TIME OUT

Houston was swept by Wichita State over the weekend.
The Cougars led by a pair of runs in the series finale before giving up three-straight solo home runs.
