Adejokun, Ruiz, Taylor earn American Track and Field Athlete of the Week

Three Cougars tab first outdoor American awards
HOUSTON – Priscilla Adejokun, Antonio Ruiz and Naomi Taylor were named American Track and Field Athletes of the Week, the conference announced Monday.Â

Priscilla Adejokun carried over strong momentum from the indoor season into the hammer throw at the Houston Spring Break Invitational on March 17. Adejokun covered 64.41m (211-4.0) on the fourth attempt of six to claim the win with the best mark in the conference and eighth-best throw thus far nationally as of March 22

Antonio Ruiz turned in a strong showing in his season debut in the pole vault for Houston at the Houston Spring Break Invitational on March 17. Ruiz was the runner-up with a clearance of 5.21m (17-1.0) to pace the conference and rank fifth in the NCAA as of March 22.

Naomi Taylor opened the outdoor slate in a familiar position, first place, in the 100-meter hurdles during the Houston Spring Break Invitational on March 17. Taylor turned in a winning time of 13.41 to rank first in the conference and 14th in the NCAA as of March 22.
