Three Cougars qualify for Indoor NCAA Championships

Sampy, Tuilefano, Adejokun all qualify for NCAA's in Birmingham
HOUSTON – Priscilla Adejokun, Nu'uausala Tuilefano and Christyan Sampy qualified for the indoor NCAA Championships to be held in Birmingham, Alabama on March 11-12.Â
The three field athletes maintained their positions in the national standings following the American Conference Championships. The top 16 athletes in each event automatically qualify for the NCAA Championships at the Birmingham CrossPlex.Â
Adejokun currently ranks No. 8 in the nation in the women's weight throw after recording a new Yeoman Fieldhouse record at the Howie Ryan Invitational. Her 22.77 mark was a personal best and her fourth first-place win of the season before placing second at the conference championships.
Sampy finished the season ranked No. 11 in the pole vault recording a personal best of 5.47m at the Clemson Tiger Paw Invite. The sophomore finished second in the event at conference championships.Â
Tuilefano's school record at the G5 & Super 22 Invitational qualified her for the NCAA Championships. Tuilefano shattered a 35-year school record with a 17.10 mark making her the school record holder in both the indoor and outdoor shot put. Her qualifying time currently ranks No. 16 in the nation after taking the individual title in the shot put at the American Conference Championships. Â

Tickets for University of Houston home collegiate track meets can be purchased here. Adult tickets are available for $10 and children tickets for $5. Spectator parking can be found in 16B and 16D for $10. Please follow marked signage to find the pedestrian path around the construction to the front of the Athletics & Alumni Center.
