Women’s Golf Tees Off at MountainView Collegiate on Friday

Cougars begin three-day, 54-hole tournament at MountainView Golf Club
TUCSON, Ariz. – The University of Houston Women's Golf returns to action this weekend when it competes at the MountainView Collegiate beginning Friday morning at The MountainView Golf Club.
Teams will play 18 holes each day through Sunday with a 10 a.m. (CDT) split-tee start on Friday and Saturday and a 10 a.m. (CDT) shotgun start for Sunday's Final Round.
This will be Houston's second event of the spring season.
The Cougars enter this weekend's tournament after tying for seventh at their own ICON Invitational on Feb. 21-22 at Golf Club of Houston. At that event, senior Annie Kim fired three straight rounds of par or lower and tied for ninth at 5-under 211.

THE LINEUP
Under the leadership of Carolyn Macow Leatherwood Head Coach Lydia Gumm, the Cougars will be represented by Kim, senior Ariana Saenz, sophomore Nicole Abelar, senior Maria Jose Martinez and sophomore Delaney Martin.
This season, Kim leads the Cougars with a 72.78 scoring average and eight rounds of par or better, including three in the 60s.
Martinez stands second among the Cougars with a 74.17 average, while Saenz and Martin are tied for second with six rounds of par or lower.

The Cougars will compete against student-athletes from Arkansas, Florida, Iowa State, North Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, San Jose State, Southern Miss, Texas A&M, TCU, Texas Tech, Tulsa, UNLV and co-hosts Missouri and Kansas State.
UP NEXT
Following the MountainView Collegiate, Houston will close its regular-season schedule when it competes at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic on March 25-27 at UGA Golf Course in Athens, Ga.
From there, the Cougars take their first step in the postseason when they compete at the American Athletic Conference Championships, set for April 17-19 at Pinehurst #6 – Pinehurst Resort in Pinehurst, N.C.
