
Women’s Golf Opens Spring Season at UCF Challenge

Cougars tee off Sunday morning at Eagle Creek Golf Club in Orlando
ORLANDO – The University of Houston Women's Golf program begins its 2022 spring season when it tees off Sunday at the UCF Challenge at Eagle Creek Golf Club.
Competing on the 6,349-yard, par-72 course, teams will play 18 holes with a 7:45 a.m. (CST) shotgun start scheduled each day through Tuesday.

THE LINEUP
Under the leadership of Carolyn Macow Leatherwood Head Coach Lydia Gumm, the Cougars will be represented by seniors Annie Kim, Ariana Saenz and Maria Jose Martinez and sophomores Delaney Martin and Nicole Abelar.
This season, Kim leads the Cougars with a 73.17 scoring average and four rounds of par or better. The Seoul native led the Cougars in each of the last two tournaments to close the fall season, including a fourth-place showing at the prestigious Blessings Collegiate Invitational on Oct. 4-6, 2021, in Fayetteville, Ark.
Martin and Martinez are tied for third on the team with a 74.92 average.
TEAM FIELD
The Cougars will compete against student-athletes from Virginia, Michigan State, Wake Forest, Auburn, Miami (Fla.), Ohio State, Kentucky, NC State, Old Dominion, Iowa State, Kent State, UNC Wilmington, Charleston, Penn State, Maryland, Minnesota and host UCF.

UP NEXT
Following the UCF Challenge, Houston return home to play host to its own ICON Invitational on Feb. 21-22, at Golf Club of Houston in Humble, Texas.
From there, the team will compete at the MountainView Collegiate at MountainView Country Club in Tucson, Ariz., on March 18-20 before playing in the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic on March 25-27 at UGA Golf Course in Athens, Ga.
