Houston defeated on the road in Lubbock, looks to three game homestand
LUBBOCK, Texas – The University of Houston Tennis program competed in Lubbock at the McLeod Tennis Center on Friday, falling to Texas Tech, 7-0.
Houston (3-4) went into the match looking for its first road win of the spring season. Texas Tech improved to 4-1 on the season with the win. The Cougars now look to rebound with a three game homestand beginning Thursday at 1 p.m. CT against Lamar.
Houston began action in doubles play, followed by singles play. In the first match, Azul Pedemonti and Maria Dzemeshkevich fell 6-1 against Texas Tech's Kailey Evans and Avelina Sayfetdinova. Blanca Cortijo and Laura Slisane were defeated by Cristina Tiglea and Margarita Skriabina 6-2.
In the third match, pair Elena Trencheva and Sophie Gerits defeated Olivia Peet and Metka Komac 5-2. Unfortunately, it was not enough for the Cougars as the Red Raiders earned the point.

The Cougars will return for a three game homestand at the Barbara Wallace Winston Tennis Facility. Houston will first face Lamar on Thursday at 1 p.m., Saturday against UTSA at 1 p.m., and will conclude on Monday against Northwestern State at 11 a.m.
Fans will have the opportunity to catch the Cougars at home for free eight more times throughout the spring.
