Tennis Picks Up Five Singles Wins at Rice Invite

Cougars wraps up fall action Saturday at 9 a.m.
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Tennis program continued its weekend at the Rice Fall Invitational with five singles victories on Friday at the George R. Brown Tennis Center on the campus of Rice.
Due to the potential threat of rain in the area, Houston began the day with singles action against BYU and UT Arlington followed by doubles matchups against Rice and BYU.
Azul Pedemonti picked up her second singles win at the Rice Fall Invitational against BYU's Win Ka Lin in two sets with scores of 6-2, 7-6. Maria Dzemeshkevich clinched a win after dominating BYU's Helen Jiao, 6-0, 6-1.
Blanca Cortijo Parreno picked up her first singles win at the Rice Fall Invitational after defeating BYU's Xenia de Luna with set scores of 6-4, 1-6, 6-1. Freshman Sophie Schouten wrapped up the day for the Cougars following a win over BYU's Avery Pope, 6-3, 6-2. Senior Manasi Reddy saw action for the first time this fall season defeating UT Arlington's Ioana Dumitrescu, 4-2.
Houston will conclude action at the Rice Invitational at 9 a.m., Saturday from the George R. Brown Tennis Center with one round of singles action.
