Soccer Receives Six College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Honors

Two defenders, two midfielders and two forwards earn award
HOUSTON – Six members of the University of Houston Soccer program were recognized for their work both on the field and in the classroom as they earned College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team honors, the organization announced on Tuesday.
Graduate student Taylor Garza-Freeman (social work), senior Emma Clarke (civil engineering), senior Janna Singleton (marketing), junior Caitlyn Matthews (exercise science), junior Nadia Kamassah (exercise science) and sophomore Samantha Wiehe (biochemistry) each earned Academic All-District recognitions.
Both Garza-Freeman and Clarke were team captains in 2022. Singleton led the team offensively with 10 points and five goals, while Wiehe led the team in assists with three and three goals her tally.
Matthews picked up two goals and two assists, while Kamassah notched three goals during the 2022 season.
ABOUT THE AWARD
The 2022 Academic All-District® Women's Soccer Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in early December.
