Swimming & Diving Fall in Season Opener

The Cougars tabbed 123 points against the Aggies to open up the 2022-23 season
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – University of Houston Swimming & Diving Sophomore Emma Wright clocked in a first-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle in the Cougars' first meet of the season against Texas A&M on Thursday at the Rec Center Natatorium in College Station.
Two Cougars made their collegiate debuts on Thursday picking up second place finishes with Alondra Ortiz clocking in a 2:00.34 in the 200-yard butterfly and Landry Hadder earning a 2:04.01 in the 200-yard back.
Senior diver Katie Deininger placed first in the 1-meter diving event with a final score of 288.08. Deininger also collected a second-place finish in the three-meter with a score of 320.03.
Freshman Eden Humphrey placed third in the 100-yard freestyle clocking in a time of 10:23.25 for her collegiate debut with the Cougars.
UP NEXT
From Oct. 14-15, Houston will split its squad with swimmers heading across town for the Rice Fall Splash, while the divers host Idaho, Incarnate Word and North Texas at the Houston Diving Invitational at the CRWC Natatorium with action beginning at 10 a.m., each day.
