Sasser Named to AP Preseason All-America Team

Cougars open 2022-23 season vs. Northern Colorado in Fertitta Center on Nov. 7
HOUSTON – University of Houston senior guard Marcus Sasser added another preseason honor to his resume when he was named to the Preseason All-America Team by the Associated Press on Monday.
This was only the latest preseason All-America honor for Sasser. The Dallas native has been named to Preseason All-America teams by The Almanac, Blue Ribbon College Yearbook, Dick Vitale and College Hoops Today.
Sasser also was named the American Athletic Conference Preseason Player of the Year and earned a place on the Preseason First Team in coting by the league's head coaches.
Sasser posted four 20-point games in his first 12 contests a year ago, including season highs with 26 points in wins against Rice and Northwestern State, before being sidelined for the remainder of the season following foot surgery in late December 2021.
Prior to that, he drained seven 3-pointers in the first half of the win against Northwestern State, tying the school record set by Robert McKiver against Charleston on Nov. 17, 2007.
With 180 3-pointers and 498 3-point attempts to date, Sasser is poised to set Houston career records in both categories as he prepares for the 2022-23 season.
Sasser was joined on the AP Preseason All-America Team by Oscar Tshiebwe (Kentucky), Drew Timme (Gonzaga) Armando Bacot (North Carolina) and Trayce Jackson-Davis (Indiana).
