Houston Reveals 2021-22 Non-Conference Schedule

Cougars to compete in six regular-season home games with exhibition inside Fertitta Center
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Women's Basketball program has released its 2021-22 non-conference schedule, highlighted by six regular-season games and an exhibition contest inside the Fertitta Center, Head Coach Ron Hughey announced Monday.
The Cougars begin the 2021-22 campaign when they meet Texas A&M-Commerce in an exhibition contest inside the Fertitta Center on Nov. 5. From there, Houston starts its regular season when it takes on Howard on Nov. 9 inside the Fertitta Center.
After a pair of road contests inside the Lone Star State at Stephen F. Austin (Nov. 12) and at UT Arlington (Nov. 17), the Cougars return to Houston to meet New Mexico inside the Fertitta Center on Nov. 20.
Houston then heads to Mexico to compete at the Cancun Challenge on Nov. 25-27. The Cougars open that event on Nov. 25 against Arizona State before facing Fordham (Nov. 26) and Baylor (Nov. 27).
The Cougars open the month of December on the road at Alabama on Dec. 3 and close out the month with four of their next five games inside the Fertitta Center. The homestand begins against Jacksonville State (Dec. 9) and Louisiana (Dec. 12).
Following a road contest at Florida State on Dec. 16, Houston closes out the year 2021 with home games against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (Dec. 21) and Southeastern Louisiana (Dec. 29) inside the Fertitta Center.
From there, the Cougars will take their first steps in the postseason during the American Athletic Conference Championship, set for March 7-10 inside Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas.
Houston's complete schedule with game times, American Athletic Conference games and broadcasting networks will be announced soon.
ABOUT the COUGARS
Four starters and seven letterwinners return for the Cougars, who posted a 17-8 record, finished third in the American Athletic Conference with a 12-5 mark and advanced to the WNIT First Round in 2020-21. It was the program's third straight postseason appearance.
Sophomore guard Laila Blair returns in 2021-22 after an award-winning freshman season. The Houston native led the Cougars with 10.5 points per game on the way to being named to the American Athletic Conference All-Freshman Team.
Tatyana Hill led the Cougars with 6.2 rebounds per contest, while Dymond Gladney paced the team with 3.2 assists per game.
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE SCHEDULE
While the Cougars' American Athletic Conference schedule has not been finalized yet, Houston knows who it will face during the regular season.
The Cougars will meet UCF, South Florida, SMU, Temple, Tulane and Tulsa in home-and-away games. Cincinnati and East Carolina will make trips to the Fertitta Center while Houston will travel to face Memphis and Wichita State on the road.
