Houston Soccer Defeats McNeese State on the Road

Nadia Kamassah hits game-winner in extra time
HOUSTON – Houston Soccer traveled to Lake Charles, La. where it outscored McNeese 2-1 at Cowgirl Field in extra time to improve 2-0 on the season.
The Cougars entered the second half of the match tied 0-0 with the Cowgirls. That changed in the 67th minute when McNeese's Anna Watson scored off a free kick that sent the ball under the crossbar to edge the score 1-0 for the Cowgirls. Houston answered in the 79th minute with a goal by Anna Reysa, which was assisted by Zionah Browne and Jazmin Grant.
Game regulation concluded with a 1-1 tie leading both teams into golden goal-style extra time. With approximately five minutes remaining in the first extra period, redshirt-freshman Nadia Kamassah put the ball in the net to secure Houston Soccer's first road win of the season.
In addition to two clutch goals for the Cougars, Houston also outshot McNeese 22-3 with 12 of those shots on goal. Houston also increased its all-series record to 7-0 against McNeese with the last win, prior to today, occurring in September 2018.
UP NEXT
Houston will be back at the Carl Lewis International Complex at 7 p.m. Thursday to take on Stephen F. Austin. The theme for the evening will be Goodwill Night in which fans are encouraged to bring clothing to donate to charity. Fans can also donate non-Houston college gear in exchange for a new University of Houston shirt.
