Houston Soccer Unveils 2021 Schedule

HOUSTON – The University of Houston Soccer program and Head Coach Diego Bocanegra announced the Cougars' 2021 schedule on Thursday.

"With all of the chaos from the 2020-21 season, I'm glad that we didn't have to wait too long to get started again," Bocanegra said. "While many teams are adjusting to a quick turnaround, we are excited for the shortened break because we are looking forward to building off the momentum we created last season.

"We have a veteran team and I believe we are as prepared as we have ever been, as our players and coaches are chomping at the bit to get going."

The 19-game schedule features 10 regular season contests inside Carl Lewis Stadium, as well as an exhibition contest at home to open the season. To purchase tickets, fans can click here. Fans can also view the full schedule here.

Houston returns all three of its All-Conference selections from last season, including redshirt senior Jazmin Grant, who was a First-Team All-Conference honoree. Grant was also named to the United Soccer Coaches All-South team. Throughout her career, Grant has racked in a total of four accolades from the league: 2017 All-Rookie Team; 2017, 2019 All-Conference Second Team; 2021 All-Conference First Team.

Redshirt senior Mia Brascia joined Grant on the All-Conference team, landing a spot on the Second Team for the first time in her career. She returns for her final season with the Cougars after totaling 11 points off three goals in five assists from a year ago. Sophomore Genaye Sanders rounded out the representatives from Houston on last season's conference accolades, being named to the All-Rookie Team after proving herself with nine appearances in the starting lineup.

Bocanegra enters his fifth season at the helm of the of the Cougars, where he looks to carry the momentum of last year's success into 2021. With a 6-4-1 mark, the 2020 campaign marked Houston's first winning record since 2010, which was propelled with by a 3-1-1 start and capped off with the program's first win over UCF.
