Comes to Houston after serving previous three seasons at UTSA
HOUSTON – Daniel Park has joined the University of Houston Women's Golf program as assistant coach, Carolyn Macow Leatherwood Head Coach Lydia Gumm announced Monday afternoon.
Park came to Houston after serving for the previous three seasons as an assistant coach at UTSA. During that time, Park helped lead the Roadrunners to five tournament championships, including the 2019 Conference USA title, and two NCAA Regional berths.
The Roadrunners also performed in the classroom well under his watch, earning 16 C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll honorees, four C-USA Commissioner's Academic Medals and a WGCA All-American Scholar with the team receiving a pair of NCAA Public Recognition Awards for academic progress rate (APR) perfect scores of 1,000 in 2019 and 2020.
"I am very grateful to Lydia for the opportunity to join the Cougar family. The University of Houston has tremendous resources from the community and the Athletics Department to compete at the highest level," Park said. "Over the last few years, I have enjoyed becoming friends with Lydia and am excited to work with her on the goals for our program."
"Daniel is going to bring a lot to our program. He has done a great job at UTSA and getting them to two straight NCAA Regionals," Gumm said. "He is well-connected internationally and a talented recruiter. Daniel is a hard worker who always brings positive energy, and he will fit our culture well."

In 2020-21, UTSA earned three Top-5 team finishes with second-place showings at the Texas State Invitational and the Maryb S. Kauth Invitational. The Roadrunners also advanced to the NCAA Louisville Regional, the program's second straight postseason berth.
In 2019-20, UTSA captured a pair of tournament titles and one individual crown. The Roadrunners captured their second straight Texas State Invitational championship and followed that with the team title at the Maryb S. Kauth Invitational. That event was the last of the campaign, as all spring sport competition and championships were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
That season, he also became certified as a TPI Golf II instructor.
Park helped lead UTSA to three team titles, including their second straight Conference USA crown, and four additional top-five finishes in his first season with the program in 2018-19.
UTSA won the season-opening Lady Maxwell Invitational and also finished atop the leaderboard at the Texas State Invitational. The Roadrunners successfully defended their Conference USA Championships title with a school-record 10-under 854 to finish 12 strokes ahead of runner-up Charlotte. The Roadrunners then advanced to the NCAA Norman Regional.
Park came to San Antonio from Auburn, Ala., where he held dual roles as a golf coach at Auburn High School since and a marketing and tournament director for the Southeastern Junior Golf Tour
While at Auburn High, he helped the Tigers to three tournament titles in 2018 and guided NCAA Division I signees and prospects
Park also served as a tournament services intern with Global Golf Management in Opelika, Ala., where he helped promote event opportunities and assisted with general operations during PGA Tour's Barbasol Championship in 2017
Park worked as a public speaking instructor with Auburn University's Communications Department from 2015 to 2017 while he completed his master's degree in communication
A former standout collegiate golfer for Alabama State, Park helped lead the Hornets to three consecutive Southwestern Athletic Conference championships in 2013-15. He collected All-SWAC First-Team honors and was a Cleveland/Srixon All-American Scholar as a senior in 2015.
Park was a President's Award recipient and a member of the Dean's Honor Roll each year of college. He graduated summa cum laude with a 3.94 GPA and in communications with a minor in finance in 2015 from Alabama State.
A native of Kendal, England, he and his wife, Shanon, were married in 2017.
