Offense paces way to game one win
In game one, the Cougars' (16-31, 7-15 AAC) offense paced Houston to its first win of the weekend, taking down the Golden Hurricane (23-14, 14-7 AAC) by a score of 9-5. Game two saw a late surge by the Cougars with clutch solo home runs from redshirt senior Sarah Queen and junior Bethany Busch, but the effort wasn't enough as Tulsa won the game 5-3 in nine innings.
With hits in both outings on Friday, Busch extended her reached base streak to 18 and her hitting streak to nine games. She finished the day a combined 4-for-8 and was the lone Cougar to record multiple hits in both games.
She was joined by seniors Rock Benavides and Aspen Howie as those with two hits in game one. Benavides also recorded a hit in game two and has now hit safely in her past six games. She is batting a scorching .526 during that stretch.
