5/28/2021 9:54:00 PM | Track and Field
Meet scheduled to be revised and action to resume tomorrow
HOUSTON – Due to severe weather, the third day of action in College Station at the NCAA West Region Prelims has been postponed.Â
Â
The meet schedule is being revised and will be made public once it is complete.
Â
After a rain and lightning delay lasting more than three hours the NCAA concluded the competition would be moved to Saturday. Action is set to resume tomorrow morning at E.B. Cushing Stadium for both the men and women competing for spots at the 2021 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
Â
Prior to the start of the men's events, the results of the women's hammer throw were finalized and were highlighted by the advancement of Mikaila Martin to the NCAA Championships. Martin will move on to Eugene after recording a heave measuring in at 61.77m (202-8). This marks Martin's first trip to Eugene.
Â
Multiple Cougars competed earlier today in the field events, falling short of advancing to Eugene. Triston Gibbons represented the Cougars in the Discus Throw, finishing with a series-best throw of 51.80 (169-11).Â
Â
Over at the Triple Jump, Jadon Brome paced UH with a 16th-place finish after recording a jump of 15.91m (52-1 ½). Quinton Stringfellow trailed Brome at 15.21m (49-11), followed by Caleb Malbrough at 14.98m (49-1 ¾).
