Cougars Win Three Conference Titles, Men’s Team Finishes Third at Big 12 Outdoor Championship

Houston wins titles in the men’s high jump, discus and 4x100-meter relay
TUCSON, Ariz. – The University of Houston Track & Field team secured three conference titles as the men's squad finished third overall Saturday at the 2026 Big 12 Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championship held at Drachman Stadium.
Texas Tech secured the men's title with 127 points, followed by Arizona in second place with 101 points, and Houston finished third with 87.33 points.
The Red Raiders also won the women's title with 119.5 points. Houston posted 20.5 points for 14th place, earning points in the 100-meter hurdles, 4x100-meter relay, 4x400-meter relay, pole vault, triple jump and shot put.
BIG 12 CHAMPIONS
Junior Antrea Mita won his first outdoor Big 12 title in the men's high jump after posting a personal best of 2.26m. Mita entered the competition at 2.07m and cleared 2.12m, 2.16m, and 2.20m, all on his first attempt. The junior claimed the title on his second try at 2.23m and kept raising the bar. Mita cleared 2.26m on his second attempt, tying for third on Houston's all-time performance list.
Graduate Canaan Wharry was crowned the men's discus champion with a season-best mark of 58.49m. Wharry's third attempt earned him the title as he moved up to fifth on Houston's all-time performance list.
The men's 4x100-meter relay team secured its second Big 12 title, having previously won in 2024. Graduate Ryan Mulholland, freshman Sean Aigboboh, senior Dakari Charlton and senior Louie Hinchliffe set a facility record and recorded the seventh-fastest time in program history with 38.51 seconds.
ON THE PODIUM
H-Town Speed City scored 21 points in the men's 100-meter final. Hinchliffe finished second with a time of 9.97, followed by Charlton in third with 10.11. Aigboboh took fifth at 10.18 while Mulholland closely followed in sixth with a time of 10.19.
The sprinters gained an extra 13 points in the men's 200-meter final. Charlton finished third with a personal-best time of 20.28, the seventh-fastest in program history. Junior Jaelyn Reeves-Lile recorded a personal best of 20.35 for fourth place. Reeves-Lile's time ties him for ninth on Houston's all-time performance list. Aigboboh finished seventh with a time of 20.53.
Senior Anthony Trucks finished eighth in the men's 110-meter hurdles final with a time of 13.79. Graduate Miracle Thompson also placed eighth in the women's 100-meter hurdles with a time of 13.22.
Freshman William King IV finished seventh in the men's 400-meter hurdles with a time of 51.10.
Freshman Kenneth Owen matched his personal best of 2.07m to tie for eighth place in the men's high jump.
Senior Mouhameth Fall contributed to the Cougars earning one point in the men's triple jump with a mark of 15.93m.
Freshman Shieana Hall jumped her way to the third-best triple jump in program history and finished in sixth place. Hall recorded a wind-legal personal best of 13.36m to earn points in the event.
The women's 4x100-meter relay team, consisting of junior Ruth Agadama, senior Matilde Ochoa, sophomore Taylor Jackson and freshman Alexa Smothers, finished sixth overall with a season-best time of 44.78.
Freshman Zac Miller scored in the men's 1500m as he crossed the finish line in 4:00.30.
The men's 4x400-meter relay team, consisting of sophomore Damarien Jacobs, sophomore King Taylor, and graduate Trey East III, finished fourth overall, posting the eighth-fastest time in program history at 3:04.18.
The women's 4x400-meter relay of freshman Kamree Wolridge, sophomore Carlysia Cresser, freshman Jada Stanford and junior Michaela Mouton closed the night taking seventh place. The relay squad posted the fifth-fastest time in program history, 3:33.58.
