Accolade marks the second of her career
HOUSTON – University of Houston Softball redshirt infielder Sarah Queen was named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Central Region Second Team, the NFCA announced Thursday.
The honor marks the second of Queen's career, as she joins an elite class of Cougars, becoming the eighth player in program history to receive multiple NFCA All-Region accolades in a career. She was named to the All-Region Third Team in 2018.
This is the fourth consecutive year Houston has landed at least one player on the All-Region team and 10th All-Region selection in the Kristin Vesely era.
For Queen, the Houston, Texas, native finished her career with 2021 being one of her best, setting career-highs in home runs (13) and slugging percentage (.662). Her 13 homers are the most since Courtney Klinger launched 14 in 2016, and her .345 batting average marked her fourth season batting about the .300 mark.
In 2021, Queen had no problem competing amongst the best in the nation, leading the Cougars in nearly every offensive category against RPI top-75 opponents. In those 29 games, Queen held a .313 average to go along with seven home runs, 20 RBIs, 25 hits and 15 runs scored.
