Cougars seek to reach program milestone
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Softball team hits the road for the final time of the 2021 regular season, as the Cougars travel to Memphis, Tenn., for a four-game series with the Memphis Tigers April 30-May 2.
Houston enters the weekend series looking to reach a milestone in the program's history, needing just two wins to reach 700 all-time wins.
With the all-time series between the Cougars and Tigers dating back to 2006, Houston has dominated its matchups with Memphis, holding a 35-10 lead in the series. In fact, Houston has won 13 of the past 14 contests, including seven in a row. The last time these two squared up, Houston took the season series and won both games in Memphis.

- Houston's offense has come alive as of late, having scored at least five runs in seven of its past 10 games, including five in a row. In those seven games, the Cougars are batting .316 as a team and holding a slugging percentage of .540.
- Leading the recent offensive surge has been redshirt seniors Lindsey Stewart-Vaughn and Sarah Queen. While Stewart-Vaughn has bolstered the offense in the last 10 games with a team-best in hits (12), runs (12), home runs (4) and RBIs (10), Queen has followed with a .400 average and a .767 OBP in that same 10-game span.
- Junior Bethany Busch has been on a tear as of late, entering the weekend with a 12-game reached base streak. During that span, Busch has posted a .344 batting average and leads the team in OBP (.447) and stolen bases (5).
