LEADING OFF
- Having won nine of its past 11 games against the East Carolina, Houston has continued its dominance in its all-time series with the Pirates that dates back to 2002, leading 39-19. In fact, in the last 12 contests at Cougar Softball Stadium, Houston won nine times and have done so by surrendering two or fewer runs in six of those wins.
- Led by sophomore Logan Hulon's ERA of 0.93, Houston's pitching staff has also made the most of its opportunities inside its own park, with junior Rachel Hertenberger holding opposing batters to a team-best .243 batting average as well. Hulon and Hertenberger have a combined ERA of 2.14 inside Cougar Softball Stadium this season.
- Coming off another strong week at the plate is redshirt senior Sarah Queen, who was named to the American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll for the seventh time in her career after batting .385 with RBIs in five games. Against Wichita State, Queen also launched a pair of home runs to go along with a couple of multiple-RBI performances.
