HOUSTON – Houston running back Kyle Porter and defensive end Payton Turner have been named to the National Football Foundation's (NFF) Hampshire Society on Wednesday.
Membership is comprised of college football players from all divisions of play who each maintained a cumulative 3.2 GPA or better throughout their college careers.
Porter finished his two-year career at Houston with 1,039 rushing yards and seven touchdowns and was a team captain for the Cougars in 2020. Porter will receive his Master's degree in Supply Management this May.
Turner finished his collegiate career with a 3.22 cumulative GPA after majoring in management. In his four-year career, Turner appeared in 39 games and finished with 115 tackles, 25.0 tackles for loss and 10.0 sacks. He was selected to the American's All-Conference Second Team in 2020.
The NFF Hampshire Honor Society capitalizes on the NFF's current National Scholar-Athlete program by greatly expanding the number of student-athletes the NFF can recognize each year. Jon F. Hanson, the chairman and founder of The Hampshire Companies and NFF Chairman Emeritus, provided the endowment to launch the NFF Hampshire Honor Society in 2007.
Celebrating its 14th year in 2020, the initiative has previously honored 10,695 student-athletes since its inception.
