Houston opens AAC action, hosts Wichita State
HOUSTON – Houston Baseball opens American Athletic Conference play at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, hosting Wichita State in the first of four games from Don Sanders Field at Darryl & Lori Schroeder Park.

The teams will play a doubleheader Friday beginning at 2 p.m. and close things out Saturday at noon. All four games can be seen on ESPN+ and heard on Stretch Live.

This weekend features a matchup of two of the top four teams in the AAC standings. Houston has won eight consecutive regular season games against Wichita State (1997-present). Houston leads the all-time series vs. Wichita State, 31- 12 including a 6-0 mark as co-members of the AAC.

It has been 685 days since Houston last played a conference game (May 18, 2019 at UCF). Of Houston's 44-man roster, only nine (20%) have played in an AAC game for the Cougars. Only three of Houston's 21 pitchers (14%) have ever pitched in an AAC game -- they include: Tristen Bayless, Sean Bretz and Carter Henry.

Houston has been at the forefront of the American Athletic Conference since league play began in 2014. The Cougars lead the league in conference wins (84), conference tournament victories (16) and all-conference honorees (34).
