Midweek conference match-up set for Wednesday
Originally scheduled for February 28, the match was delayed due to COVID-19 issues. This will be the third American Athletic Conference for the Cougars with a pair of one-goal losses as well as a 4-1 victory over Tulsa.
Wednesday's game can be streamed live on ESPN+ here.
GRAND GRANT
With another offensive outburst against Tulsa, Jazmin Grant was named to her second American Athletic Conference Honor Roll on Monday. Grant tallied both a goal and assist against the Golden Hurricane, her second performance with those numbers in three opportunities.
The Texas native finds herself atop The American leaderboards in points and tied for the lead in both goals and assists. Her offensive uptick this season has vaulted her into Cougars' history with spots in the top-five of goals, assists, and points.
SENIOR DAY SUCCESS
Houston's victory over Tulsa was an all-around great performance for the team after honoring four seniors pregame. After letting in an early goal, the Cougars pounced back with a true offensive showcase. Houston scored three goals in less than ten minutes of action to snag momentum and take a lead they would never relinquish. Another goal was added late in the second half.
All four Cougars seniors saw action in the match with Amy Nguyen starting and playing the most minutes. Both CaLeigha Callahan and Reid Morrison earned ample time in the field while Kate Godfrey finished the final nine minutes of the game in net for the squad.
SERIES HISTORY
Throughout the past 19 years, these two programs have met eight times with Houston winning only two, but the Cougars have not lost to the Bearcats since 2015. Houston is 2-4-2 overall with both victories coming at home in 2017 and 2019.
The past two trips to Cincinnati have resulted in draws as the program looks for its ever road victory against their conference foe.
UP NEXT
The AAC slate continues over the next couple weeks as Houston welcomes USF, Temple, and SMU to town. The season will end against UCF on April 11 in Orlando.
