Houston Concludes Solid Day of Action at UTSA

Cougars secure five podium finishes in San Antonio
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Track & Field program returned to action after a day off when student-athletes competed at the UTSA Invitational at the Park West Athletic Complex in San Antonio.
Naomi Taylor got things going for the Cougars with a second-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles. The senior notched a time of 13.30. On the men's side, DJ Akindele earned the first top finish of the day for the Cougars with a time of 14.09 in the 110-meter hurdles.
Erin Derrow picked up a second-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles and was just shy of a personal-best in the event with a time of 1:01.34.
Cecilia Tamayo-Garza, Iman Babineaux, Payge Side and Brianne Bethel combined for a third-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay. The squad combined for a finishing time of 3:42.17.
Christian Hamberlin, Quivell Jordan, Jordan Booker and Jermaine Holt secured a third-place finish for UH in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:08.21.
Houston will return to action on next week at both the Texas Relays and Victor Lopez Invitational from March 25-27.
HOUSTON ATTENDANCE POLICY
Limited tickets for Houston Track & Field will now be sold on a single-game, general admission basis while supplies last. Fans are encouraged to act quickly and purchase advanced single-game tickets prior to their arrival on campus due to limited availability.
All facilities and related spring sporting events will operate at 25 percent capacity of available seating throughout the remainder of the 2021 season.
For fans wishing to attend any of these home events this spring, an exclusive pre-sale ticket offer will be made available to existing season ticket holders and donors prior to the general public on-sale which begins on Monday, March 15 at 9 a.m. CT.
Fans are encouraged to visit UHCougars.com/tickets to purchase available single-game tickets while supplies last.
