Argentina native earns her first weekly conference honors

HOUSTON - Houston's Azul Pedemonti earned The American Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week honors after an undefeated weekend in singles competition, the conference announced Tuesday.

Competing in the No. 5 spot last week, Pedemonti went 3-0 in single play including two straight-set victories. The sophomore from Argentina also compiled 2-1 record in doubles competition last week.

This is the first conference award of the season for the Cougars and first in Pedemonti's career.

Houston is currently riding a three-match winning streak and they have won six of their past seven competitions.
