
Houston Ready to Host Valspar Collegiate Invitational

Elite tournament features nine Top-35 teams and six Top-10 squads; Tees off Monday morning with 36 holes
PALM CITY, Fla. – The University of Houston Men's Golf program returns to action when it plays host to one of the nation's premier collegiate events, beginning Monday morning.
The Cougars welcome 10 teams to the Valspar Collegiate Invitational on the 6,184-yard, par-72 course at The Floridian Golf Club. Teams will play 36 holes Monday with the Final Round teeing off Tuesday morning.
The tournament features nine Top-35 teams and six Top-10 squads from the latest Golfstat national rankings.

STARTING LINEUP
Under the direction of Director of Golf Jonathan Dismuke, the Cougars will be represented by junior Braxton Watkins, senior Matt Cole, senior Andrew Gibson, sophomore Austyn Reily and senior Alexander Frances in the team's starting lineup.
Freshman Hanseung Chang, sophomore Trip Morris and seniors Logan Young and Luke Long will compete as individuals.
Watkins ranks second on the team with a 73.50 scoring average and four rounds of par or better. The Texarkana, Ark., native tied for 17th with a score of 218 at the Cabo Collegiate at TPC San Antonio on March 1-3 in the Cougars' most recent team outing.
Morris, Reily, Frances, Cole and Long are all tied for second on the team with three rounds of par or better.

TEAM FIELD
The 33rd-ranked Cougars will face No. 1 Florida State, No. 3 Wake Forest, No. 4 Pepperdine, No. 7 Arizona State, No. 9 Clemson, No. 10 SMU, No. 29 USF, No. 36 Duke, Marquette and Ohio State.
PAIRINGS
For Monday, the Cougars will compete in groups with student-athletes from Pepperdine and Florida State beginning with a 7:30 a.m. (CDT) shotgun start.
Cole will begin the day for the Cougars in the first group off No. 1 with Watkins (second group off No. 2), Gibson (No. 2), Reily (No. 3) and Frances (No. 4) following.
Long begins off No. 14 with Morris (No. 15), Chang (No. 16) and Young (No. 17) following.

Following the Valspar Collegiate Invitational, the Cougars will close the month of March at the N.I.T, hosted by Arizona at Omni Tucson National Resort in Tucson, Ariz., on March 20-21.
