Fredgaard Named to ANNIKA Award Watch List

Award is presented annually to nation’s top female collegiate golfer
HOUSTON – University of Houston sophomore Karen Fredgaard was named to the ANNIKA Award Watch List presented by Stifel. The award is presented annually to the nation's top collegiate golfer.
The announcement was made Friday morning by Golf Channel and Golfweek. Fredgaard was one of 15 student-athletes to be recognized, joining Allisen Corpuz (USC), Isabella Fierro (Oklahoma State), Linn Grant (Arizona State), Gurleen Kaur (Baylor), Rachel Kuehn (Wake Forest), Ingrid Lindblad (LSU), Ana Palaez (South Carolina), Pauline Roussin-Bouchard (South Carolina), Aneka Seumanutafa (Ohio State), Erica Shepherd (Duke), Emma Spitz (UCLA), Maja Stark (Oklahoma State), Beatrice Wallin (Florida State) and Lauren Walsh (Wake Forest).

ABOUT KAREN FREDGAARD
Fredgaard has been a steady performer for the Cougars throughout the 2021 spring season, In two tournaments to date, the Asserbo, Denmark, native has posted six rounds of par or better while earning a pair of Top-2 finishes. Fredgaard leads the Cougars with a 69.00 scoring average
She captured the first title of her collegiate career with a score of 7-under 209 at the UCF Challenge on Jan. 31-Feb. 2 and finished second at the Cougars' ICON Invitational on Feb. 22-23, at Golf Club of Houston.
With an impressive start to her season, Fredgaard ranks second nationally in the latest Golfstat individual rankings and is third in the latest Golfweek/Sagarin rankings.
ABOUT the ANNIKA AWARD
Created in 2014, the ANNIKA Award presented by Stifel is annually given to the top female collegiate golfer. The award is voted on by student-athletes, coaches and members of the golf media.
Named for and presented by Annika Sorenstam, the honor was created in partnership with the Haskins Commission to acknowledge the top female golfer at the end of the season.
