KYLE, Texas – University of Houston freshman Delaney Martin finished with a score of 218 to tie for seventh in her collegiate debut at the Texas State Invitational on Tuesday afternoon.
The Boerne, Texas, native completed her Second Round in the morning with three birdies during her final four holes to finish with a 71 on the 6,249-yard, par-72 course at Plum Creek Golf Course.
Martin drained three birdies in the Final Round on the way to a 74 and earned her first career Top-10 finish.
The TMI Episcopal native was one of three Cougars to compete as individuals at the two-day, 54-hole event. Freshman Zoe Slaughter tied for 24th 222, thanks for a Final Round 72.
Junior Maria Jose Martinez tied for 50th at 232.
Tulsa captured the team title at 859 to finish two shots ahead of UTSA. Sam Houston State (872), Texas State (874) and Central Arkansas (882) rounded out the Top-Five team leaders.
Individually, Sam Houston State's Hanna Alberto earned medalist honors at 15-under 201. Tulsa's Lorena Tseng finished second at 204, while UTSA's Hannah Holzmann stood in third at 208.

Following the Texas State Invitational, Houston will play host to its own ICON Invitational on Feb. 22-23 at Golf Club of Houston.
The Cougars welcome an elite field, including Baylor, Kent State, LSU, Michigan State, North Texas, Northwestern, Oklahoma State, Purdue, SMU, TCU, Texas, Texas A&M, Texas State and Texas Tech.
From there, the Cougars will tee off at the Clover Cup at Longbow Golf Club in Mesa, Ariz., on March 13-15.
