Houston Set to Compete at Charlie Thomas Invitational

Cougars head to College Station for weekend action
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Track & Field program will make its second trip of the season to College Station when it competes in the Charlie Thomas Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 6 at the Gilliam Indoor Track Stadium.

The meet is set to begin at 11 a.m. and can be viewed on SECN+. Live results can be accessed by clicking HERE. Heats sheets can be found HERE.

Houston is coming off of meet victories on both the men's and women's side at the second installment of the H-Town SpeedCity Series. The women's team captured five first-place finishes inside Yeoman Fieldhouse, as the men captured four. The women closed out the meet at the top of the team standings with a team score of 173 points, as did the men's team with 190 points.

Priscilla Adejokun looks to capture her third straight first-place finish of the season in the Weight Throw when she competes in the event on Saturday. Adejokun holds the second-best in The American this season at 19.33m (63-5.00)

Jadon Brome looks to remain atop The American in the Triple Jump after earning a pair of American Athletic Conference Field Athlete of the Week honors this season. Brome's best jump this season is 15.85m (52-0.00)

Triston Gibbons paces the Cougars in the Shot Put with a trio of first-place finishes this season in the event. Gibbons posted a PR last weekend with a league-leading toss of 18.73m (61-5.50).

Three Cougars will compete in the prelims of the men's 60-meter, all three of whom holds the top-three times in The American this season. Shaun Maswanganyi leads the league in the event with a season-best 6.64 which is ranked 16th in the world currently this season. He will be joined in the event by Christian Hamberlin who is ranked second in The American (6.69) and Nicholas Alexander who is third (6.70). Hamberlin and Alexander will also compete in the 200-meter.

Due to limited seating and capacity related to COVID-19 precautions, Houston will not allow fans for the 2021 Men's and Women's Indoor Track & Field season.
