Houston Closes Out Successful Day in College Station

Four Cougars post podium finishes
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Track & Field program closed out action at the Charlie Thomas Invitational with five top-three finishes.
Triston Gibbons got things going for the Cougars with a second-place finish in the Shot Put. He took silver with a toss of 18.19m (59-8 ¼), trailed by Mustafa Fall in seventh-place with a mark of 15.40m (50-6 ¼).
Priscilla Adejokun competed in both the Shot Put and Weight Throw. She placed sixth in the Shot Put with a mark of 13.74m (45-1.00) and fourth in the Weight Throw (18.10m (59-4.75).
In the Pole Vault, Christyan Sampy secured the Cougars first top finish of the day. He cleared 5.21m (17-1.00) for first-place in the event.
Camille Rutherford was the lone competitor for UH in the 60-meter on the women's side. She advanced to the final where she secured a fourth-place finish with a time of 7.44
Tyrell Valentine competed in the 400-meter, running a season-best 47.89 for sixth-place overall in the event.
The Houston men dominated the 60-meter, as Shaun Maswanganyi secured first-place finishes in both the prelims and final of the event. The freshman won the event with a time of 6.66, and was followed by Christian Hamberlin in third-place at 6.76. Nicholas Alexander rounded out the field for UH with a sixth-place finish at 6.85.
In the 200-meter, Hamberlin secured second-place with a personal-best time of 21.07. The time is tied for the 17th-fastest among collegians this season. Alexander finished second in his heat right behind Hamberlin for eighth-place overall at 21.44.
Miles Marhofer closed the day out for the Cougars with a fourth-place finish in the Weight Throw. His boss throw was a mark of 19.74m (64-9 ¼).
HOUSTON ATTENDANCE POLICY
Due to limited seating and capacity related to COVID-19 precautions, Houston will not allow fans for the 2021 Men's and Women's Indoor Track & Field season.
