Top-10 times highlight stellar day for the Cougars
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Track and Field program concludes a stellar day of action at Yeoman Fieldhouse on Sunday afternoon.
FULL RESULTS
With the absence of a conference championship meet the Cougars were seeking out NCAA Championships qualifying marks and times.
On the women's side Camille Rutherford had a stellar day on the track with a pair of personal-best in the 60-meter and 200-meter. She matched the fourth fastest time in UH history in the 60-meter, winning the event at 7.35. In the 200-meter, Rutherford powered through the finish line with a time of 24.25, a lifetime-best for the Cougar freshman.
Naomi Taylor rans a season-best 8.18 to win the 60-meter hurdles matching the 23rd-fastest time by a collegian this season.
Priscilla Adejokun had a stellar day in the ring, matching her lifetime-best in the Weight Throw with a toss of 20.50m (67-03.25) for second-place.
On the men's side, Shaun Maswanganyi put on a show, winning the 60-meter with a time of 6.58. The time is the fourth-fastest in Houston program history, the seventh-fastest by a collegian this season and the 14th-fastest time in the world this season.
Christian Hamberlin ran a lifetime best, 20.93 in the 200-meter to take second-place in the event with the 24th-fastest time by a collegian this season.
In the ring, Triston Gibbons won the men's Shot Put with a toss of 18.58m (60-11.50) on his second attempt.
HOUSTON ATTENDANCE POLICY
Due to limited seating and capacity related to COVID-19 precautions, Houston will not allow fans for the 2021 Men's and Women's Indoor Track & Field season.
