Cougar freshman holds fourth fastest time in UH history
HOUSTON – University of Houston freshman Phatutshedzo "Shaun" Maswanganyi closed out the 2021 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships in Fayetteville, Ark. at the Randal Tyson Center on Friday afternoon.
Maswanganyi concluded his indoor season with a trip to the NCAA Championships. The freshman clocked a time of 6.67 in the prelims, finishing in 11th-place.
FULL RESULTS
The highly touted freshman made the most of a shortened indoor campaign and looks to cap off his first collegiate indoor season with a strong performance at the Championships. Maswanganyi won the 60-meter four times this season, posting the fourth-fastest time in Houston program history after clocking a time of 6.58 inside Yeoman Fieldhouse. The time is the 14th-fastest time in the world this year and the second fastest time ran by a South African.
