HOUSTON – The University of Houston Men's Basketball program returns to action when it meets American Athletic Conference rival USF at 3 p.m., Sunday, inside the Fertitta Center.
Winners of its four of its last five games by 17+ points, the Cougars look to sweep the regular-season series against the Bulls. Houston claimed an 82-65 win inside the Yuengling Center in Tampa, Fla., on Feb. 10.
With a win over the Bulls on Sunday, the Cougars also will reach the 20-win mark for the sixth straight season under Head Coach Kelvin Sampson, a first in program history. Prior to Sampson's arrival for the 2014-15 season, no Houston teams had ever recorded 5+ consecutive 20-win seasons.
Junior guard Quentin Grimes looks to cap an eventful week against the Bulls. On Tuesday, he was named one of five national finalists for the Jerry West Award, presented to the nation's top collegiate shooting guard by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
In Thursday's win over rv/– WKU, Grimes poured in career highs with 33 points and eight 3-pointers to lead the Cougars to the 81-57 win over the Hilltoppers. With that record-setting total, he also moved past 1,000 points in his collegiate career.
