Cougars have won five matches in a row
HOUSTON – Winners of its last five matches, the University of Houston Volleyball team returns home to carry that momentum into its pair of matches against Tulane Saturday and Sunday.
Holding a 33-15 all-time record against the Green Wave, the Cougars are seeking their first season series win over Tulane since 2017. The two teams are no strangers to tight battles against one another, as two of the last three matchups between Houston and Tulane have gone five sets.

- Last time out, Houston went on the road and swept RV SMU, marking the first time since 2005 the Cougars had won their season series against the Mustangs. The two wins also marked the first time since 2017 that SMU had lost back-to-back contests on its home floor.
- Starting strong has been no problem for the Cougars this season, as Houston has held a 2-0 match lead in all six of its contests. Overall, Houston is 12-3 when leading after two sets in the David Rehr era.
- After averaging a conference-best 2.12 blocks per set against SMU, sophomore middle blocker Rachel Tullos was named The American Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week (2/15). The honor marked the second of her career and second for Houston this season. On the year, Tullos ranks third in the conference with her 1.30 blocks per set. Her 10 solo stops leads all players in The American.
- Joining Tullos with a conference weekly accolade was sophomore outside hitter Abbie Jackson, who landed a spot on the Honor Roll for the second time this season. Jackson posted a conference-leading 5.75 kills per set on the week, which included a career-high 32 kills in the five-set win over SMU.
