Laila Blair Recognized as The American Freshman of the Week

Cougar freshman helped Cougars record 2-0 record last week
HOUSTON – University of Houston Women's Basketball freshman guard Laila Blair caps off a stellar week of play with American Athletic Conference Freshman of the Week honors.
Blair helped the Cougars improve to 12-5 overall and 9-4 in conference play this past week with wins over both Temple and Memphis. She averaged 12.5 points per game, along with five assists and four steals per contest.
Blair had a career-high six steals at Temple, the most in a single-game by a Cougar freshman since the 2016-17 season. In the Cougars annual Pink Game Blair posted a career-high seven assists, the most by a Houston freshman in a single-game since the 2015-16 season.
The award marks the first Freshman of the Week award for UH since Tatyana Hill was named The American Freshman of the Week on Jan. 28, 2019.
