2nd-place Cougars travel to 3rd-place Shockers, 6th-place Hurricane
Junior Rachel Tullos was named to the AAC's Defensive Player of the Week for the second time in as many weeks 2021 after averaging 1.57 blocks per set against Tulane and Temple (11 total blocks). Tullos has the third-most solo blocks in school history (106).*
The Cougars' 19 wins so far in 2021 is the most since 2011 (19 wins). Houston is in second in the conference with a 9-3 AAC record. Wichita State was on an 8-match winning streak before being swept by UCF in Orlando Oct. 31. Houston leads the AAC in aces (1.82) and opponent attacking percentage (.180).
Junior Abbie Jackson set a season-high 31 kills against East Carolina, one off her career-high. Jackson leads the conference in aces per set (0.39) and ranks 80th nationally. Jackson ranks 10th all-time in UH history in aces (92).*
Sophomore Kate Georgiades ranks 22nd nationally in digs/set (5.11) and leads the American Athletic Conference.
Tullos ranks fifth all-time in Cougar history for hitting percentage (min. 250 kills), with a .306 attack pct.* Tullos has the third-most solo blocks in school history (106).*
Houston was picked No. 2 in the American Athletic Conference Coaches Preseason Poll. It was the second straight season in which the Cougars were picked among the Top-Two leaders and the highest preseason ranking since the 2006 Cougars were picked No. 2 in Conference USA Preseason Poll.
Under the leadership of third-year Head Coach David Rehr, the Cougars have produced eight All-American Conference student-athletes to go with a Freshman and Setter of the Year. That is more All-Conference honorees than any other school during the last two years.
