Clarke Named to Top Drawer Soccer Women’s Team of the Week

HOUSTON – Senior Emma Clarke was named a member of the Top Drawer Soccer Women's Team of the Week on Oct. 26, announced TopDrawerSoccer.com on Tuesday.
"The New Zealand defender played the full 90 minutes in wins against Memphis and Cincinnati, as the Cougars bounced back from back-to-back losses," stated TopDrawerSoccer.com. "Clarke was crucial in a 1-0 shutout win over Memphis."
Clarke has been a valuable part of the Cougar defense this season with 1,444 minutes played on the pitch. She has put up tough defense on the back line assisting in eight total shutouts. In the 12 shots Clarke has taken in 17 games, seven have been on goal with one scoring a point for Houston against Lamar earlier in the season.
"Emma has been one of the anchors of our back line," expressed Head Coach Diego Bocanegra. "She and the rest of the team had an excellent weekend dealing with two dynamic teams. It's nice to see her earn recognition for her efforts."
The Cougars will travel to Tulsa on Thursday to conclude the regular season schedule before beginning conference tournament competition.
